Yes, the addons made for MSFS2020 are compatible with MSFS2024, updates to have fully compatible addons will come later down the line.

As of January 2025 this is the official reply from the MSFS Marketplace team:

"We're in the process of setting up the MSFS2020 items in MSFS2024 but unfortunately we do not yet have a date to share on when they'll be available or when the Marketplace will be live. Once all that's set, the issues you previously mentioned should resolve themselves".

You might have overstressed the gearbox by applying too much torque, make sure to slowly apply power with your throttle to avoid overtorquing.
